Before joining Temple University, he served as a program director of the National Science Foundation and an outstanding professor at Florida Atlantic University. Wu Jie received a bachelor 's degree and a master 's degree from Shanghai University of Science and Technology, and a doctorate from Florida Atlantic University in 1989.
